Now they could stay outside most of the year, but our Texas heat and the occasional freezing temperatures are outside of their extremes so I was planning to use the 4th bedroom as the brood area. Which brings me back to the original convo with my darling. I told her that they really need to be in the spare bedroom and for some reason, she suggested that the spare bedroom might also become MY bedroom.
Well the meal worms and beetles are already on the way, so now I have to explain why we need to intentionally keep a STARTER colony of a thousand or so insects in the house. They provide basically free protein for the chickens, ducks and quail. They could be a source of income. They are really easy to keep and almost never escape . . . and all she heard was "Blah, blah, blah . . . a thousand insects in the house . . . Blah, blah, blah".
Luckily, I have the greatest wife in the world and after reviewing a 12 min youtube video, she's obliging me with keeping them in the house. *CROSSES FINGERS* Here's hoping there are no problems with this particular experiment. :)
